Lydia (Skiles) Brent
October 11, 1883
Manning Monitor

DIED Saturday morning, October 6, 1883, Mrs., Lydia Ann, wife of Charles W. Brent, of Manning, Iowa. Mrs. Brent's disease was consumption. It attacked her after she had measles in May last, and from being a woman of robust health she has gone down to death so soon. She was but 23 years of age. She leaves a loving husband and two little children to mourn the loss of mother and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Brent were among the first settlers of Manning, but so quietly and unobtrusively have they lived and so rapid has been the influx of strangers that they were but little known, yet many sympathizing friends extend their kindest solicitations to the bereaved husband in his distress.
