MABEL ARP
Funeral services for Mabel Arp were held Saturday, January 7, 1978, at 2 o'clock p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Officiating was the Rev. Donald Jones of the United Methodist Church of Manning. Bonita Hagedorn was organist. Interment was in Manning Cemetery with Gary Knueven, Dan Arp, Bill Lahndorf, Marc Arp, Raymond Hagedorn and Louie Andresen as casketbearers.

Mabel Matilda, daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Blakely Arp, was born March 31, 1896, at Comanche, Iowa. As a young girl she moved with her parents to a farm south of Manning and attended the rural schools near her home. She made her home with her parents until their death. She then made her home with her sister, Mrs. Anna Frank of Manning.

Mabel worked for many years for the Priebe Company in Manning. She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Bible Readers Society, Women's Relief Corp and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She has lived in the Elmcrest Apartments for the last two years and entered the Manning General Hospital about four weeks ago. She passed away at the hospital on Thursday, January 5, 1978, at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 5 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, John and Joe Arp; by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Frank and Leora as a child.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and friends.

The family of Mabel Arp would like to express their sincere appreciation to all those who sent flowers, memorials and food at the time of the loss of our loved one. A special thanks to the Methodist ladies who served the lunch, Pastor Jones for his words of comfort and to Dr. Edgerton and the nurses at the hospital for their care during her stay there, and those who sent her flowers and cards. To all a very special thank you. May God Bless You.


Mabel Arp is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
