Death of Mabel Brookfield.
Mabel Brookfield who has been at Glenwood, Iowa, for the past four years, died at the hospital there Tuesday. The immediate cause of her death was a severe attack of lung trouble. Her mother, now Mrs. B.F. Engle, of Dowagiac, Michigan, was sent for when it was found that she must die, but she did not arrive in time to see her alive. Her doctors and attendants at the hospital say that Mabel was a good kind hearted girl and when she found that she must die she expressed a perfect willingness to go, saying she was going to heaven.

Mabel Brookfield was born in Audubon County 24 years ago and for several years she was a very bright and intelligent child until she had a severe sick spell and since that time she has not been well.

Mrs. Engle, in company with the remains came here last evening and the funeral occurred at ten o'clock this morning at the M.E. Church, Rev. Bennett officiating. The remains were interred in the Manning Cemetery by the side of her father who died some two years ago. The bereaved has the sympathy of the community in their sad affliction.

The relatives attending from abroad were Mrs. B.F. Engle, of Dowagiac, Michigan, mother of deceased and Bennie Brookfield Jr., of Des Moines.

Note: there are no tombstone or city records of Mabel Brookfield in the Manning Cemetery.
