MABEL LENGEMANN

Funeral services for Mabel Lengemann were held Monday, September 28, 1987, at 2:00 p.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa. Pastor Sushil Joseph of United Methodist Church in Manning officiated the service with Connie Siepker, organist and Larry Genzen, vocalist. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery in Manning with Jerome Kasperbauer, Roger Vollstedt, Delton Gruhn, Melvin Kusel, Lawrence Sporrer, and Russell Mohr as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Virgil Genzen, Merle Stoelk and Charles Gruhn.

Mabel Wilhelmina, daughter of Henry and Anna (Arp) Frank, was born May 27, 1905, near Irwin in Shelby County, Iowa. After her graduation from Irwin High School Mabel enrolled in normal training at Storm Lake. For three years she taught in the rural schools in the Irwin area.

June 24, 1925, Mabel was united in marriage with Bernard Alfred Lengemann at the home of her parents near Irwin. One daughter, Betty, was born to this union. They resided on farms near Gray, Coon Rapids, and Manning, and retired from farming and moved to Manning in 1971. Mabel's husband died unexpectedly in 1985. Mabel remained in her home until December of 1986. She was hospitalized at that time and then moved to the Manilla Manor nursing home. She died at St. Anthony Hospital early Saturday morning, September 26, 1987, at the age of 82 years, 3 months, and 29 days.

Besides her husband, Mabel was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Agnes Kuchel.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty, and her husband, Louis Andresen, of Manning; three granddaughters, Lynna and her husband, Jay Miller and Lesia and Luann Andresen; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
