MAE KEAT

Funeral services for Mae Keat were held Tuesday, May 10, 1983, 11:00 a.m. at Ohde Funeral Home, Manning, Iowa. The Reverend John Cornish of the United Methodist Church in Manning officiated. Bev Smith was organist and Craig Ruhde was vocalist. Charles Laverty, Ralph Hagedorn, Phil Enenbach, Bob Halford, Don Newbiggin, and Dick Swanson were casket-bearers. Interment was in Manning Cemetery. Ohde Funeral Home, Manning, was in charge of arrangements.

Mabel Susan, daughter of Richard S. and Sarah E. (Tate) Keat, was born August 19, 1897, near Manning, Iowa. She attended country schools near her home. Mae remained with her parents, caring for them until their deaths. She spent her life caring for other people's children and she loved to be of help to her friends and neighbors.

Mae was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and a 40 year member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Mae had been a resident of the Manning Plaza since October 1, 1976, and had been in failing health for a couple years. She died Sunday, May 8, 1983, at the Manning General Hospital, at the age of 85 years, 8 months, 19 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Harry, George, Jack, Albert, and Arthur Keat; and two sisters, Emma Mincey and Ethel Garvin.

She is survived by her sister, Nell Keat, Omaha, three sisters-in-law, Rose Keat, Manning, Colet Keat, Carroll, Hilda Keat, Carroll, nieces, nephews and many good friends.
