Services for Malinda "Lindy" A. Anderson, 99, of Norfolk will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk. The Revs. Ray Wilke and Christopher Asbury will officiate with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk.
She died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at St. Joseph's Nursing Home.
She was born on April 4, 1910, at Aspinwall, in Crawford County, Iowa, to John and Bertha (Schroeder) Ehrichs. When she was 4 years old, her family moved to Aspinwall. While in the eighth grade, they moved to Bloomfield, Nebraska.
The 1928 Norfolk High School graduate worked at the Heckman Grocery in Norfolk for five years, delivering groceries in a Model T Ford. She and Guy Anderson were married on January 2, 1931, at the Rev. G.E. Hartner's parsonage in Lincoln.
Guy and Lindy farmed in the Hoskins area. She, her husband and their son drove to Alaska in 1957. The couple also traveled to Florida, the western states and Canada. They competed in six national bowling tournaments. She and Guy celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on January 4, 1981. He died on December 28, 1981. Lindy was a housewife and a charter member of the A-teen Club. She was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church and a past member of the Zion East Lutheran Church and its ladies aid north of Hoskins. She was an avid bowler in Pierce, and Norfolk.
Survivors include two daughters, Jerrine and husband Willard Kohlhof of Norfolk and Karen and husband Raymond Matteo of Norfolk; son Galen and wife Diane of Pierce; 14 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister Alyce; brother Herbert; and two grandchildren, Richard Matteo and Phyllis Higel.
Congregational hymns at the funeral will be "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," "In the Garden," "Amazing Grace" and "For All the Saints." Organist will be Lyla Fuhrman.
Casket bearers will be Aaron Anderson, Gale Anderson, Dennis Kohlhof, Randall Matteo, Raun Matteo, and Rory Matteo.
