Funeral services for Mamie Janssen were held Saturday, May 31, 1980, at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Denison, Iowa. Burial was in the Hayes Township Cemetery near Westside, Iowa. The Rev. Jack Heck officiated at the services. Serving as pallbearers were Lynn Ewoldt, Leonard Petersen, Harvey Schrum, Errol Wegner, Larry Genzen and Russell Kroeger. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Denison.

Mamie Dorothy was born on December 24, 1902, near Manning, Iowa, the daughter of William and Emma (Nagel) Wegner. She died Tuesday evening, May 27, 1980, at her home in Denison at the age of 77.

Mamie was raised on a family farm. She received her early education in the rural schools near her home. She was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Mamie was united in marriage with Emil Gosch in 1924 at Manning. They made their home on a farm near Manilla. Mr. Gosch passed away in 1934. Later Mamie was united in marriage to Gerd Janssen on September 23, 1950, at Jackson, Minnesota. After farming near Gilmore City, Iowa, they retired to Denison in 1972.

In addition to her parents and her first husband, Mamie was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her husband Gerd of Denison, three sons, Norman Gosch of Valparaiso, Indiana, Roger Gosch of Rockwell City, Iowa, and Clement Gosch of Guatemala City, Guatemala and two step-sons, Wilbert Janssen of Jolley, Iowa, and Martin Janssen of Gilmore City; also by 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two sisters, Milda, Mrs. George Peters of Manning, and Mrs. Helen Petersen, also of Manning.
