Mrs. Margaret Daly Passes Away.
Last Thursday morning, September 21, 1905, at 11 o'clock, A.M. Mrs. Margaret Daly passed quietly and peacefully away at her home in the north east part of town. She had been poorly for some time but was supposed to be better and her daughter, who has been living with her went to Joseph Stewart's farm southeast of town to see her sister who was also very sick and only had been gone a short time when she just apparently went to sleep never to awake again.

Margaret Kearnaghm was born in Ireland, November 15, 1831. She in company with her brother Henry, came to America some 50 years ago settling in Illinois. She was married to John Daly in 1861 and with him settled on a farm in Clinton County in 1865; in 1888 with family came to Carroll County purchasing a farm 3 1/2 miles southeast of Manning, and for the last 6 years resided her home in Manning.

Her husband John Daly died November 21, 1903, and thus 2 years preceded her to the better land. She belonged to a family consisting of 5 boys and 4 girls all of whom have passed on before, except 2 boys, Henry of Carroll County, Illinois, who was present to witness the last sad rites of his departed sister, and Edward of Portland, Oregon.

Mother Daly was reared in the Presbyterian Church of Ireland but at about the age of 20 united with the Methodist Church of which she remained a faithful and consistent member until the time of her death.

In her death the church loses a devoted member, the home a loving faithful mother; the world a pure Christian woman. Four children, including an adopted son, remain to mourn the loss of their best earthly friend; for none can take the place of mother. Quietly and peacefully, Thursday, September 21, at 11 a.m. in the 74th year of her age she closed her eyes to open them no more to us upon earth but to look upon the house of many mansions reserved for them that love God.

The funeral was held at the M.E. Church last Sunday at 2 o'clock P.M., Rev. McCurdy officiating. Beautiful flowers of all kinds adorned the casket. The pallbearers were D.W. Sutherland, C.A. Emmons, Joseph Wilson, W.F. Carpenter, O.E. Dutton and E. Hatheway.

The singers were Miss Hattie Leonard, organist, Miss Gertrude Stephany, Mrs. B.W. Allen, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Lewis, O.B. Walters, Rev. McCurdy and Arthur Laflar.

The relatives who attended the funeral from afar were Henry Kearnaghan, a brother of the deceased of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Stavely of Perry, Robert Daly, her adopted son was at Heaton, N.D. and word could not reach him so he could not get here in time for the funeral.

The Monitor together with her many friends extend to the bereaved their heartfelt sympathy in their sad bereavement.
