Margaret Brady Kuhl

Funeral Mass for Margaret Elizabeth Brady Kuhl was held Monday, February 13, 1995, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Templeton, Iowa. Celebrants were Reverend Gary Snyder, Msgr. A. W. Behrens and Reverend Gerald J. Thury with mass servers being Eric Foutch, Mike Heithoff and Tony Sporrer. Lectors were Jennifer Alexis Thury, Joel Thury and Nikki Foutch and gift bearers were Jodi Foutch and Paul Hiatt. Music was provided by Leonette Irlbeck, organist; Sacred Heart Men's Choir and Sara Thury, soloist. Interment was held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Templeton, Iowa with Bob Johnson, Gary Weitl, Lambert Schwaller, Thomas Greteman, Randy Romey and Dale Prebeck as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Mary Weitl, Elaine Schwaller, Connie Blum, Bill Horbach and Cliff Romey. A Wake Service was held Sunday, February 12, 1995, with the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa.

Margaret, daughter of Edward and Rose Meyer Brady, was born February 20, 1915, in Aspinwall, Iowa. She attended Manning schools and beauty school in Des Moines. She worked in various stores in Manning and operated her own beauty shop in Templeton.

On July 10, 1941 Margaret was united in marriage with Ervin F. Kuhl. After his service in the United States Army during World War II they operated, for 17 years, Kuhl's Tavern and Lunchroom in Templeton. After her husband's death on December 22, 1976, Margaret continued to live in Templeton.

Margaret was a very active volunteer in all aspects of community life. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Past Grand Regents Club. Also, she belonged to the VFW Auxiliary and the Templeton Senior Citizens Club. Margaret enjoyed, and took great pride in, her home and her yard. Above all, she enjoyed her family.

Margaret became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home, Manning, Iowa, on October 5, 1993. After a lengthy illness, she died there on Wednesday, February 8, 1995, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 19 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Don Brady and George Brady.

Survivors include her daughters: Kathy Kuhl of the Manning Plaza and Teresa KuhlThury and her husband, Fred Thury, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; two grandchildren: Jennifer and Sara Thury; two sisters: Ruth and her husband, Ronald Hiatt, of Manning and Alice Buckles, of Brea, California; nieces and nephews: Paul Hiatt, Jodi Foutch, David Buckles, Mark Buckles, and Kathy Blackburn; great-nieces and nephews: Nikki Foutch, Eric Foutch and Ryan Buckles; other relatives and friends.
