MARGARET L. KUHN

Funeral services for Margaret L. Kuhn were held Wednesday, September 16, 1987, at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Pastor Robert Riggert officiated the service, with Fern Jensen as organist.

Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Kyle Schroeder, Chuck Reglein, Jeff Pike, Kurt Schroeder, John Reglein, and Art Kuhn as casketbearers.

Margaret, daughter of Adam and Augusta (Nieland) Stang, was born July 25, 1890, in Washington Township, Carroll County, Iowa. She was baptized on September 28, 1890, at the Lutheran Church in Remsen, Plymouth County, Iowa. As a youth she lived with her family on a farm southwest of Halbur. On August 22, 1920, she was confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.

After attending Manning schools Margaret took her Normal Training in Denison and taught rural school in Washington Township. She was united in marriage with Emil Kuhn on February 14, 1922, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. They farmed west of Manning, northwest of Aspinwall, and then returned to a farm one mile west of Manning where they remained until after their retirement when they moved into Manning.

On June 11, 1982, both Margaret and Emil entered the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. Margaret was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church and was Sunday school superintendent for over 25 years.

At the beginning of 1987 Margaret's health began to fail and she had a bad fall about five weeks before her death on Tuesday, September 15, 1987, at the Manning General Hospital at the age of 97 years, 1 month, and 21 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by five sisters: Mary Sander, Carrie Stang, Lily Barr, Ella Schroeder, and Lydia Romey; by three brothers: William Stang, Charles Stang, and Arthur Stang; and by a son-in-law, LaVerne Schroeder.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Emil, of Manning; by her daughter, Rozora Schroeder, of Manning; by two grandsons, Kyle Schroeder and his wife, Barbara, of Prior Lake, Minnesota and Kurt Schroeder and his wife, Laurie, of New Prague, Minnesota; by one sister, Florence Farrant, of Lee's Summit, Missouri; by one brother-in-law, John W. Schroeder, of Wall Lake; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
