Mrs. Fred David Rites Held here

The many friends of Mrs. Fred David will regret to learn that she departed this life on Wednesday, March 17, 1937, at a hospital in Carroll.

She was a resident of Washington Township in Carroll County for marry years and during that time made many friends and acquaintances who will sincerely mourn her death. She was a devoted wife and a sympathetic friend and her passing leaves the home without a kind and loving mother.

Margaretha Christine Ahrendsen, was born on April 15, 1877 in Scott County, Iowa, where she spent her childhood days until 1887, when she came with her family to Audubon County, living on a farm. Here she grew to young womanhood and was married to Fred David on March 16, 1898. The couple enjoyed married life for 39 years and a day. This union was blessed with three daughters, who besides the father and bereaved husband survive. They are Elsie, Mrs. Julius Polzin of Manning; Louise, Mrs. Edward Rudnick of Gray and Hertha at home. She also leaves five grandchildren, three brothers, Henry and Herman Ahrendsen of Manning, and Julius Ahrendsen of Audubon, and a host of other relatives and friends. She departed this life at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 29 days.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 20, at 2:00 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, the Rev, J.M. Ansorge officiating. Interment was made in the Manning cemetery, which services were attended by a large concourse of friend manifesting their last respects no the beloved departed friend.

As pallbearers acted: H. C. Pahde, Emil Kuhn, Herman Musfeldt and three grandsons, Lawrence, William and Hugo Ahrendsen.

Her death came not unexpected as she had been a sufferer for some time. She was placed under the care of skilled physicians, and care in the Carroll hospital, and everything possible was done to ease her suffering but to no avail. She was called to her reward and is sleeping the eternal sleep, where there is no suffering. Our sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.


Margaretha David is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
