Mrs. Margaretha Hunemueller, nee Schwarz was born on the 16th day of January 1829 in the city of Oldenburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Prussia. Here she received her religious education and was confirmed in the Christian faith. On the 9th day of March 1855 the deceased was united in marriage with Carl Hunemueller who preceded her in death 20 years ago. This union was blessed with one child Mrs. Auguste Schoening. In 1871 the family immigrated to America locating for the time being in Clinton County, Iowa. A few years later they went to Carroll County living on a farm north of Manning, and a few years later removed to Manning to spend the declining years in retirement. Mr. Carl Hunemueller died in Manning on the 7th day of February 1892 (tombstone says February 28, 1892).

Last Tuesday January 28th the deceased met with a terrible accident which is as yet unaccounted for, and was so seriously burned that her folks entertained but little hope for her recovery. Immediately a doctor was summoned to give her relief from suffering. Her condition however attained a more alarming nature when pneumonia set in, causing her death on Monday afternoon, February 3rd. Those that mourn her death are the following. The daughter Mrs. Auguste Schoening, the son-in-law August Schoening, and 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Her age was 84 years and 17 days.
