Manning Service For Mrs. Hansen Held on Tuesday

Funeral services for Mrs. Peter Hansen, 76, were held at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Tuesday, with the Rev. John M. Ansorge officiating. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery and pallbearers were: Marvin, Fred, and Robert Hansen, Harry and LeRoy Hass and William Ahrendsen.

Margarethea Dorthea Sierks was born in Wittenberg, Schleswig Holstein, Germany, January 19, 1868, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. William Sierks. Her parents passed away while she was in her infancy.

She came to America May 29, 1871, with her grandparents, who settled on a farm near Davenport. They moved to a farm near Avoca where they remained for one year, and then to a farm near Walnut. In 1886, she came with her grandparents to a farm near Gray, which is now owned by her son, Hugo M. Hansen.

Mrs. Hansen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended the public schools at Avoca and Walnut.

March 15, 1890, she married Peter F. Hansen of Walnut. They began their married life on the farm near Gray, where they lived until June, 1927, when they retired to their present home in Manning. Mr. Hansen passed away in August 1935.

They were the parents of seven children, six of whom survive: Otto, Manning; Mrs. Leon Hass (Amalia), Manning; Hugo, Gray: Mrs. Norman Miller (Alma), Newton, Iowa, Mrs. Alfred Hansen (Lillie), Gray; and Mrs. George Fischer (Hilda), Manning.

Mrs. Julius Pruter (Anna) passed away in 1921.

There are eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hansen passed away at her home in Manning, Saturday evening, September 2, 1944, following a long illness.
