Mass of Christian Burial for Marguerite Bauer of Manning was held Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Manning, Iowa. Reverend Andrew Hoffmann officiated. Lector was Elmer Langel, Eucharistic Minister was Margaret Frees, Mass Servers were Shelby Hansen and Ericka Tank, and Gift Bearers were Megann Bauer, Maria Bauer, Heather Bauer, Francis Bauer, Nikki Bauer, Chasity Chedester, and Morgan Bauer. Pat Heithoff was organist. Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning with Nathan Bauer, Jason Bauer, Michael Bauer, Tim Smith, Nathan Peitz, and Rob Chedester as casketbearers. A Rosary by the Altar & Rosary Society and a Prayer Service were held Tuesday, June 21 at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.

Marguerite Mary, daughter of Edward and Marie (Fleskes) Kanne, was born February 23, 1936, at Carroll, Iowa. She graduated from 12th grade at the St. Angela Academy.

She was united in marriage with Ervin John Bauer on September 8, 1956, at St. Peter & Paul Church in Carroll, Iowa. The couple moved to Manning in November of 1966. Marguerite was a homemaker and raised six sons. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Parish and the Altar & Rosary Society.

Marguerite loved to bake bread and work on puzzle books. She was a Chicago Cubs fan and liked to watch daytime TV. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Following a courageous two-year battle with cancer, Marguerite died on Monday, June 20, 2005, at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 28 days.

Preceding her in death are her parents and an infant brother Eddie Kanne.

She is survived by her husband Ervin Bauer of Manning; six sons: Keith Bauer and wife Susana of Ankeny, Iowa; Kevin Bauer, Manning; Jeff Bauer and special friend Dawn Loew of Manning; James Bauer and wife Melissa of Denison, Iowa; Kenny Bauer and wife Diane of Manilla, Iowa; Kerry Bauer, Manning; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; five siblings: Ralph Kanne and wife Janice of Boone, Iowa; Renee and husband Ron Fricke of Carroll, Iowa; Joleen and husband Daryl Reiman of Templeton, Iowa; Jean Ann and husband John Keller of Dextor, Iowa; Mark Kanne and wife Barb of Austin, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.
