MARIA BORKOWSKI

Maria Albertina Borkowski was born March 20, 1884, the daughter of Carl and Albertina (Jonatzke) Biastoch in Pommeria, Germany. She passed away after a lengthy illness on January 14, 1912, at the age of 38 years, nine months and 24 days.

She came to America at the age of eight years. She was confirmed in April 1897, in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lincoln Township, Audubon County.

On Feb. 24, 1909, she was married to Gustav Borkowski in her home in Audubon County, and to this union were born two sons and two daughters.

She made her home with her daughter, Hilda, until she entered the Manning Plaza on Sept. 29, 1972.

She was preceded in death by her husband parents, one son, one granddaughter, two sisters, three brothers and five great-grandchildren. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Hilda) Borkowski and Mrs. Hilmer (Lorena) Rudolph, and a son, Lester, all of Audubon; also 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Werner F. Wetzstein on Wednesday, Jan17 at Trinity Lutheran church with interment in the Lincoln Center cemetery. The casketbearers were Harold Asmus, Lawrence Petersen, Dalton Borkowski, Lyle David, Alerd Borkowski, and Merlin Borkowski.
