Died on Friday morning, September 9, Mrs. Brown, mother of Reuben Brown and Mrs. Mayberry. For the last several months she had been making her home with her daughter in the country. She was a fine old lady and had many friends in this vicinity. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Died, on Friday, September 9, 1892, at the home of Mrs. Mayberry, near Manning, Mrs. Maria Brown, aged 76 years and 5 months.

The deceased was born in New York April 9, 1816. She was married to Barton Brown in October 1836. The year following she moved with her husband to Detroit, Michigan. In 1857 the family moved to Illinois and in 1870 they came to Shelby county, Iowa. Several years ago she joined the Presbyterian church. The deceased left four children, Mrs. Jane A. Jones, Thomas Brown, Ruben Brown and Mrs. Mary Mayberry.
