Funeral services for Marie C. Bauer were held Wednesday, July 3, 1985 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Pastor Paul Krumm officiated with Dorothy Kusel as organist and the Zion Lutheran Quartet as vocalists. Interment was in Arcadia Cemetery with Dean Stribe, Paul Vetter, Curt Brotherson, Lester Peters, Erwin Harmening and Lester Popp as casketbearers. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.

Marie, daughter of Wilhelm and Wilhelmine (Schulz) Brockmann, was born September 13, 1893, in Wheatland Township, Carroll County, Iowa. She was baptized on October 22, 1893, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in April of 1908 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia. She was united in marriage with Fredrich William Bauer on September 16, 1914, at Omaha. They made their home on a farm near Manning for several years, later moving to South Manning. Marie worked at various jobs in Manning, including Priebes, and lastly the Corner Cafe. Several years ago Marie moved to the Terrace Apartments and then to the Manning Plaza in 1984. She had been in failing health and died at the Manning General Hospital on Monday, July 1, 1985, at the age of 91 years, 9 months, and 18 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1965; three infants at birth; 7 brothers: Wilhelm, Friedrich, Otto, Gustave, Alfred, Rudolf, and Arnold; and one sister, Amanda Koepke.

Marie is survived by her twin sister, Emma, Mrs. Emil Peters, of Arcadia, and by nieces and nephews.

Marie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church Congregation in Manning transferring her membership here from Arcadia in 1956.
