Death Takes Businesswoman

Funeral services for Marie Emma Brady were held on Sunday, January 20, 1974 at 2 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Pastor Edward F. Heinicke officiated with burial in the Manning Catholic Cemetery. Casket bearers were Emmett Mullen, Ed Dobler, Herbert Groteluschen, Eddie Johnson, Merlin Struve and Ken Fogleman. Arrangements were in charge of the Ohde Funeral Home. Dorothy Kusel was organist.

Marie Emma Brady, the daughter of John and Martha Wenzel Asmus, was born on September 5, 1906 in East Boyer Township in Crawford County. Marie moved to Manning with her parents in 1914 and was a 1924 graduate of Manning High School. She was united in marriage to George Brady in 1937. He passed away on September 30, 1957. A businesswoman in Manning for the past 50 years, Marie managed the Golden Rule the past 20 years. She entered the Manning General Hospital on January 3 and died there on Thursday, January 17, 1974.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three half—sisters.

Survivors include three sisters: Mrs. Herman (Lydia) Musfeldt, Mrs. Don (Verna) Brady and Mrs. Paul (Alma) Vollmer, all of Manning, and one brother, Merlin Charles Asmus of Palmerston, New Zealand.


Marie Brady is buried in the Manning Catholic Cemetery.
