MARIE A. CURLILE

Marie Addline, daughter of William "Bill" and Margerette May Alvis Nelson was born November 1, 1909, in Buffalo County, Nebraska. She attended rural school in Custer County, Nebraska. On June 30, 1925, Marie was united in marriage with Maurice Edward Curlile at Broken Bow, Nebraska. To this union six children were born. For 33 years after their marriage they farmed in central Nebraska. Marie was a homemaker.

In 1958 they moved to Denver, Colorado, where her husband worked at a bank. Marie was a Watkins representative for many years. Marie and Maurice were affiliated with the Church of God and maintained a high interest in the education of their children and families throughout their lives.

In September of 1987, Marie and her husband moved to Manning, Iowa, to be nearer their children. Maurice died on April 14, 1993, at their home in Manning. Following his death Marie continued to live in her home until late September 1999 when she moved to Reed House in Denison, Iowa. Marie died there on Sunday, October 17, 1999, at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 16 days.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers; Reuben Nelson, Earnest Nelson, and Marion Nelson; and two sisters, Ruby Hammons and Nettie Fitz.

She is survived by her children: Glen Curlile and his wife Darlene of Carson City, Nevada; Irma and her husband Chuck Wanitschke of Grand Island, Nebraska, Donna and her husband Ron Crosby of Broomfield, Colorado; Wayne Curlile and his wife Velaine of Manning, Iowa; Wanda and her husband Dennis Davidson of Lakewood, Colorado; and Carol and her husband Jerry Swanson of Denison, Iowa; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marcella (Sally) Peobody of Hay Springs, Nebraska; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 20, 1999, 10:30 A.M. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa. Reverend Marshall Brown from the First Presbyterian Church officiated the service. Vocal selections by Helen Ohde included "Amazing Grace", "Beyond The Sunset" and "Let There Be Peace On Earth" by the congregation. Vocalists Angie and Andrew Lapel sang "Here I Am Lord". Connie Siepker served as organist.

Casketbearers were Jay Curlile, Ronnie Rodd, Mark Swanson, Gary Curlile, Leon Johnston and Ken Johnson. Interment was in the Manning Cemetery in Manning, Iowa.

The family invited those in attendance to join them for lunch and fellowship at the Presbyterian Church. The Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.
