Wife Of Louie Fritz Dies In South Dakota July 10, 1941

Mrs. Anna Fritz returned Monday evening after spending about two weeks at Irene, South Dakota where she attended the funeral of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Louis Fritz on July 12. Enroute home she stopped at Sergeant Bluff and Correctionville.

Mr. Fritz and his wife had many friends in this vicinity who were sorry to hear of Mrs. Louis Fritz death. The obituary from a South Dakota paper is as follows:

Mrs. Louis Fritz, nee Marie Burke, passed away very suddenly on July 10 at Sacred Heart Hospital at Yankton, South Dakota, her illness being diagnosed as cancer.

Marie Burke was born in Oppdal, Norway, on May 5, 1893, and came to America with her parents when she was a year old. With the exception of a few years spent in Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz made their home in Irene. Eight children were born to them, three passing away in infancy. Her only brother, Herman also preceded her in death.

Besides her husband she leaves five children: Dorothy (Mrs. Laverne Nelson) of Wakonda; Lester at Fort Meade and Dale, Phyllis, and Betty Lou at home. Her foster sister, Mrs. K.O. Lokken of Minneapolis and a grandson also survive her.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday at the Irene Lutheran Church with Rev. J.M. Johnson officiating, assisted by K.O. Lokken of Minneapolis, and Rev. Oscar Hanson of Watertown. Misses Lorraine and Sylvia Hevle sang two selections at the church services. Pall bearers were six members of the postal department of which Mr. Fritz is an employee.

She was laid to rest in the Irene cemetery.

Lokken, Inga, and Elizabeth of Minneapolis; Rev. and Mrs. Oscar Hansen of Watertown; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Lokken, Mr. and Mrs. H.G. Mosby, Folker Hansen and A.H.
