TRIBUTE TO MARIE HAMMER
Marie Hammer had a deep faith and believed that "Faith without good works is dead." To that end she not only occupied a pew on Sunday morning, but she took a very active part in the women's organizations in her church and put countless stitches in the hundreds of quilts made spring and fall for the poor in the world.

She was civic minded too, and at age 82 become a charter member of the hospital Auxiliary. When the cook book project came up, she entertained the promoter in her home for three days and then spent them with her soliciting ads from the business people. This venture netted $950, which was used for many things in the hospital to make a patient's stay more pleasant.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and numerous times over the years took the presidency when no other was available.

How lovingly and generously she gave of herself to her family, entertaining them for Sunday dinner for the 45 years since she and her late husband moved into town. This continued until she moved into her apartment in September of 1982.

Relatives from out of state always stopped at Marie's door where they were welcomed with open arms and soon a hot meal with a plea that they make it an overnight stay.

Her neighbors enjoyed coffee and home baked goods every time they dropped in.

What a full and complete life!

God bless her memory.
