Funeral Service for Marjorie Christensen was held Friday, March 5, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. Reverend Daniel Vogel and Reverend Patrick R. Sparling officiated. Organist was Susan Lamb. Interment was in the Maple Gnaw Cemetery, Audubon, Iowa, with Brad Christensen, Josh Brown, Christopher Brown, Doug Ridgley, Dennis Tibben, and David Tibben as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Marcy Christensen, Kara Christensen, Katie Brown, Nicole Christensen, Stephanie Ridgley, and Danny Tibben.
Marjorie Kathryn, daughter of George Henry and Laura Margaret (Reimers) Tibben, was born November 27, 1926, in Audubon County, Iowa. She attended country school and was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Adair. After completing her schooling she worked in Audubon.
On October 18, 1953, Marjorie was united in marriage with Everett Fred Christensen at St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon. Four children were born to this union. Marjorie continued to work in Audubon until they started farming north of Audubon in 1958. In December of 1963 they moved to the Campbell farm near Botna. After retiring from farming in 1988, they remained on the farm for three years before moving to Elm Crest Apartments in Manning. Everett died May 9, 1996.
Marjorie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning and the American Legion Auxiliary. In her spare time, she enjoyed volunteering at the manning Plaza and the Manning Regional Healthcare Center Auxiliary Snack Bar.
Marjorie's health began to fail around Christmas 2003. She became a resident of the Manning Plaza on February 13, 2004, and died there on Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at the age of 77 years, 3 months, and 5 days.
Preceding her in death are her husband, parents and sister-in-law Juletta Tibben.
Marjorie is survived by her four children: Jan and husband Wayne Brown of Boise, Idaho; Lynn Christensen and wife Kristine of Adel; Lee Christensen and special friend Tammy Jones of Carlisle; and Lyle Christensen and wife Denise of Manilla; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Tibben of Audubon and Eldon Tibben and wife Delilah of Fairfield, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
