It was learned with sadness just before we went to press that Martin Brunnier, one of the best known citizens of Manning had died. It was known he suffered of late from stomach trouble but it was not thought he was so low.

MARTIN BRUNNIER DEAD.
When the news that Martin Brunnier had passed from this earth last Thursday, December 26 a feeling of sadness fell over the town for in his death there was a loss of one of its best citizens. For years he had been so closely connected, with the city's growth, and such a friend to all that his departure was mourned by every citizen. Since1889 he has with his brothers been in business in Manning and few were the people of Manning and vicinity who did not know him. For the past five years he has been town clerk and his books are a record of neatness and accuracy. He was also president of the Liederkranz and his memory will be long cherished by the members of that organization. He was born at Altona, Germany, March 3, 1860, and when fourteen years of age came to this country with his parents to Davenport where they remained a few months, moving to Benton County where they lived two years. Then they moved to Carroll County residing on a farm for some time. In 1889 he came to Manning and began working in the mercantile business, continuing until his death.

To mourn his untimely death are the following, a bereaved widow, a son, Henry of San Francisco; a daughter, Catherine of Manning; and three brothers, Henry of Grass Valley, California; Emil of Mobile, Alabama; and Julius of Manning. Besides these he leaves a host of personal friends who sincerely mourn his death, and who extend the hand of sympathy to the sorrowing family and relatives.
