ANOTHER MOTHER AT REST.
Griswold American.
Mary Elizabeth (Kincaid) Armstrong was born in Fleming County, Kentucky, October 15, 1839, and died at her home in this city Friday morning, August 9, 1901, making her 61 years, 9 months and 19 days of ago at the time of her death.

At the age of two years, the deceased with her parents moved to Menard County, Illinois, where she grew up to womanhood and on August 25, 1855, she was united in marriage to William Armstrong. Of this union nine children were born, seven of whom, together with husband, survive the departed wife and mother.

In the spring of 1870, Mr. and Mrs. William Armstrong and family of small children left their home in Illinois and started west settling in this township and with the exception of a short time spent in Omaha and Carroll County, they have made Pleasant Township and Griswold their home for more than thirty-one years.

Mrs. Armstrong was a most excellent neighbor and friend. She was always ready to render assistance where assistance was needed. Among the pioneers of this section she was an especial favorite. In 1893, while living in Manning she united with the Christian Church of that place and has ever since been a worker with that denomination. On December 9, 1899, she was taken down sick and everything possible was done for her relief. Her disease was pronounced cancer of the womb. Her suffering has been terrible and for more than a year she has been kept under the influence of morphine.

The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at three o'clock in the Central Church, being conducted by the pastor, Rev. Noah Garwick, and were largely attended by sympathizing neighbors and old friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Flint burying ground, a few miles west of town.

The children from a distance who were in attendance on these last sad rites were Mrs. Gordon Laflar, of Manning; Mrs. Ida Christensen, Algona; Mrs. Mollie Davidson, Omaha; Scott Armstrong, Britt.

The other two surviving children, Mrs. J. F. Strobehn, of Nuckols County, Nebraska, and Aaron Armstrong, of Omaha, were all here recently to visit their mother.
