MRS. M.J. COE DEAD.
Former Resident of Manning Passes away.

Mrs. Mary J. Coe died last Thursday morning at 9:30 at her late home in Des Moines after an Illness of six weeks. Heart failure and other complications caused her death. Mrs. Coe is one of the pioneers of Manning, having moved here in the year 1880 and resided here continually until a little over a year ago. After the death of Mr. Coe she moved with her son Charles to Des Moines where they have since resided.

Mrs. Coe was a good neighbor and friend and a loving wife and mother. She always had a good kind word for everyone and had friends by the score In Manning and vicinity.

Mrs. Coe was 63 years old when she died. She was born at Mobile, Alabama, moved to Jackson County, Iowa in 1846 and was married to, G.W. Coe in the year 1863. They moved to Carroll County in 1880. Mr. Coe died January 29th, 1902. Her father and mother died in Jackson County in the space of one week in 1885. Mrs. Coe was a member of the M.E. Church for more than forty years and died as she lived. She leaves one sister, two brothers, and two sons, Charles and William to mourn her loss. The remains were brought from Des Moines last Friday morning and the funeral occurred at the M.E. Church at 2 o'clock p.m. Rev. A. Bennett officiating who preached a very sympathetic sermon after which the remains were interred in the Manning Cemetery. This entire community extend the deepest sympathy to the bereaved relations in this their saddest hour of sorrow.

The relatives from abroad that accompanied the remains were Mr. and Mrs. Tim Gray, brother and wife, of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Coe and wife of Oskalosa and Charles Coe, of Des Moines.
