Mary Dales
MRS. MARY DALES.
Mrs. Mary Dales, nee Gauley, died at her home eight miles south, on Thursday, February
15, 1900. The deceased was born in Belfast, Ireland, April 15, 1830, making her 69 years of
age at the time of her death. In June 1850, she was united in marriage to Andrew Dales, and
to them were born nine children: four sons and five daughters, all of whom survive.
Immediately following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Dales came to America, settling in Ohio.
Here they resided until 1883 when they removed to Shelby County and settled on a farm
eight miles south, where they have ever since resided. The deceased became a Christian in
early girlhood and continued in the faith until death. She was a devoted member of the U.B.
Church of Botna, and the pastor of that church officiated at her burial, which occurred on last
Saturday. The remains were taken to Irwin, where interment took place in the village
cemetery.
