MAXINE KOCH

Maxine Loretta Koch was born October 2, 1929, the daughter of Edmund and Hertha (Andresen) Hinners. She died at her home near Westside, Iowa, on Monday, July 15, 1996, at the age of sixty-six years.

Maxine was born in Carroll, Iowa, and received her education in a rural school near her home and the Manning High School, graduating with the class of 1947. After completing her education, she was employed by Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company in Omaha, Nebraska.

On February 16, 1952, Maxine was united in marriage to Leonard C. Koch. The couple settled on a farm near Westside and were blessed with the birth of four children. Maxine managed the Prime Time and was later employed by the Diner, both in Westside. She especially enjoyed visiting and pleasing the customers.

Maxine was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia, an active member of the Aspinwall Community Club Auxiliary, and VFW Post #3517 Auxiliary. She enjoyed the outdoors, working in her vegetable and flower gardens, and attending craft fairs. She was a devoted wife, and a loving and caring mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

On April 12, 1996, Maxine entered Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, and was admitted to St. Anthony's Regional Hospital a number of times.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Donald, Kenneth and Robert Hinners; and one granddaughter, Cheryl Jean Ehlers. Survivors include her husband, Leonard of Westside; her children, Steven Koch and his wife, Sophia of Westside; Becki Ehlers and her husband, Allen of Manning; Terry Koch of Westside; Karen Vonnahme of Vail; six grandchildren, Christina, Christopher and Brandon Koch, Andrea and Ericka Ehlers, and Daniel Vonnahme; one uncle, Albert Andresen of Manning; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 1996, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia, Iowa. Pastor Steven Stork officiated the service and grave side rites held at the Westside Cemetery in Westside, Iowa. Fern Jensen provided the organ accompaniment for vocalists, Bary and Karen Kienast singing "How Great Thou Art" and "In This Very Room", and congregational hymns "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Beautiful Savior." Those serving as honorary pallbearers were: Ann Musfeldt, Suzette Rudnick, Jim Namanny, Walt Johnson, Opal Hargens, Dave Maasen, Jim Boever and Janet Rose. Pallbearers were: Norman Andresen, Wesley Stoelk, Dennis Maasen, Charles Koch, Russell Lenz, Ray Koehnk, Dave Rohe, and Bob Koch. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 1996, at the Huebner Funeral home in Denison. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
