Maxine Kuhse Rites Held Here
Again the Angel of death entered our midst, and this time claimed a life that had barely begun to bloom. Another home is overshadowed with sorrow due to this departure. Loving parents, brothers, and sisters are feeling the harshness of death, and profound sorrow has come to the countless friends, because of the lass of one beloved. Few were her years of earthly wanderings; innocent the joys of her short young life. Pure as a rose in, the valley has she crossed the great divide, to bloom in God's garden, where, sickness, sorrow and pain are not known.

Miss Maxine Selma Kuhse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Kuhse, was born in Ewoldt Township, Carroll County, Iowa, September 3, 1919, the third oldest child in the family. She lived in this community all her life. When but a child she was baptized in the Methodist Church in Manning. She attended country school and also high school in Manning. She was active in 4-H club work, and was a very obedient child around the home.

About ten days before her demise, she was taken sick with flu to which came other complications, and everything in the power of human skill was done to save her young life but to no avail. The threads of life slowly wore away and on Tuesday, March 7, her soul departed for the home beyond. At the time of her death she was 19 years, 6 months, and 4 days of age.

She leaves to mourn, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. George Kuhse; three sisters, LaVern, Bernice, and Delores; two brothers, Alvin and Grant, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon, March 11th at two o'clock at the Ohde Funeral Home the Rev. F.C. Aldrich, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Burial was made in the Manning cemetery. As pallbearers acted Harry Karsten, Lester Karsten, Rudolph Opperman, John Musfeldt, Walter Hargens, and George Opperman.
