Obituary: Michael James Harris, 64

Michael James Harris, 64, of Milton, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Mercy Hospital, Janesville. He was born on July 18, 1951, in Manning, Iowa, to Orville William and Maxine (Hurley) Harris. He attended Carroll Community Schools and Adair Casey High School where he played football, basketball and track. Michael then attended Milton College in 1973, and would eventually call it home. Michael worked at SpaceSaver in Fort Atkinson as an assistant foreman, and also sold shoes for many stores at the Janesville Mall, making himself feel like "Al Bundy!"

Michael is survived by his mother: Maxine Harris of Milton; son Michael James Harris Jr. of Janesville; grandchildren Brynn and Quinton; brother, Joel Harris of Carroll, Iowa; and special friends Nataly Brown and her children, John and Kayla Brown. He was preceded in death by his father, Orville Harris, and brother, Mark.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at the Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Milton, with Pastor Robert Groth officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the start of the service.
Michael has a headstone in the Milton Cemetery.


Note: Michael's dad was Orville "Bud" Harris, band director at Manning High School - most notably during the 1948 state basketball championship game at Iowa City.
