Services For Mrs. C.T. Dietz Held Sunday

Funeral services for Mrs. Conrad T. Dietz, long time resident of this community were held Sunday afternoon, November 17th, at the Ohde Funeral Home with Rev. F.C. Aldrich, pastor of the Methodist church officiating at the services.

Mrs. Dietz had been ill for several years and seriously so since the beginning of this year. However, she never complained and bore her suffering with a cheerful heart endeavoring to cause her loved ones as little concern as possible. She was indeed a loving mother and a kind neighbor, and will be greatly missed, particularly by those nearest her.

The deceased was born Minnie Arp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Arp on March 16th, 1871, at Walcott, Scott County, Iowa. On January 23, 1894 she was united in marriage to Mr. Conrad T. Dietz in Scott county and on March the first of that year, moved to this vicinity, locating on the farm one mile north of Manning, known as the Martin Petersen place. Here they resided until 1903 when they moved to Manning where they have lived since. Mr. Dietz erected the home on First Street soon after they moved to town and here they lived for 37 years the first of November.

One child, Abel, Mrs. Ben Welch, survives. It was at the Welch home north of Manning that Mrs. Dietz, having been cared for many weeks by her daughter, passed away early Friday morning November 15th, 1940. Besides the only daughter, she leaves four grandchildren, Roland of Kearney, Nebraska; Merlin, Dorothy and Orrin at home. She also leaves two brothers, Rudolph Arp of Scott county and Henry Arp of Durant, Iowa; also two sisters, Mrs. Ed Puck of Durant and Celia Stender of Davenport.

Interment was in the Manning Cemetery with the following as pall bearers: John Grimm, Jack Peters, Otto Borkowski, Lou Reinhold, Carl Hagedorn and John L. Hansen.

I'm occasionally adding the actual scanned image of the obituary I make using my VERY expensive - large commercial scanner, and/or also other articles about the deceased person that were published in the Manning Monitor.
I want to also comment about people who are taking my obituaries, pictures, and/or other articles about a person/family and posting them on other websites.
You do NOT have permission or the right to do this - you are stealing my historical work.
Buy your own scanning equipment, pay for memberships to other commercial websites, and spend decades working on your local history like I have - then you'll understand why I'm making these comments!

Thank you for your attention to this matter - Dave Kusel
