Mrs. August Herbst, 92, 1800 Indian Hills Drive, died Friday night at the Indian Hills Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Herbst, the former Minnie M. Karstens, was born May 8, 1887, in Manning,

Iowa. She moved to Plymouth County 59 years ago and to Sioux City in 1942. Her husband died Dec. 4, 1959, in Sioux City.

She was a member of the Missionary Society, the Plymouth County Evangelical Church and the Sioux City Salvation Army and she was of the Lutheran faith.

Survivors include three sons, Edward and Raymond, both of Sioux City, and Donald of Ponce, Puerto Rico; three daughters, Mrs. Gervais (Phyuletta) Mathey of Bonit, Calif., and Mrs. Wallace (Helen) Vanderwal and Mrs. Vern (Darlene) Sorenson, both of Sioux City; 24 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.

Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
