Minnie Henriette Hinz was born on the 3rd of October 1889 in Manning, the daughter of John Hinz and his wife Sophianne Ahrem. Her father died when she was two years old. She and her brother Adolph found in their stepfather, August Dethlefs, to whom their mother was married in 1894, a true friend and advisor. Her younger years she spent in Manning, where she received a good education, which she completed in a college in Omaha. She was an excellent bookkeeper, working for her father, German Savings Bank and also in Omaha. She reached the age 21 years, 3 months and 6 days. She is bereaved by her mother, her brother Adolph, her step-father August Dethlefs, her step-brothers, Henry August, Albert and her step-sisters Lilly, Vernie and Vera Dethlefs, their uncle Herman Hinz, her aunt Mrs. Fred Koepke, her grandmother and many relatives in Germany.

At the time of her death she was working in Omaha as a book keeper in a large paper establishment. She had complained of intestinal trouble for some time but put off going to the hospital until a late hour. There everything that could be done was done, but the hand of death could not be stayed. Her friends here were shocked and grieved to learn of her death. The body was at once shipped to Manning where it was kept until yesterday. A large number of friends followed the remains to the church where the funeral sermon was preached. The body was then sorrowfully taken to the Manning cemetery where it will rest in peace until the day set when all good men and women shall come forth and live forever.

In the full strength of womanhood she was struck down. She died as she lived, sweet, pure, loved by all those she met. The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of a host of friends who sorrow with them in their hour of sorrow.
