Nancy Kay (Weems) Drake, daughter of Eldis "Bud" and Norma (Nissen) Weems, was born on June 6, 1952, in Manning, Iowa. She passed away on July 25, 2014, at Allegiant-Creighton Hospital in Omaha from complications of diabetes. She was 62.

Nancy's younger years were spent on the farm. She and her family later moved to Manning.

Nancy was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She graduated from Manning High School with the Class of 1970. She then attended and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, with a degree in teaching. She taught a short time in Rock Port, Missouri, and then moved to Omaha, where she lived the remainder of her life.

Nancy and Ron Drake were united in marriage on July 9, 1977. They were blessed with a son, Dylan and a daughter, Melanie. Nancy & Ron later divorced.

She was employed many years at Mutual of Omaha and also worked for Creighton University. She spent the last 10 years of her working career with the City of Omaha, retiring early due to health issues.

Nancy loved life on the farm. She had a lifelong passion for animals as well as the outdoors! She often took nature walks with her dogs and enjoyed lakes and country roads. She loved visiting with everyone she met. Nancy was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies. She fondly remembered a trip to the Grand Canyon and hiking in the mountains.

Her children and her grandchildren were her reason for living and she spent every available moment with them.

Nancy was preceded into death by her parents and a brother, Douglas Weems.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Dylan Drake, Omaha, and Melanie and Josh Lienemann of Bennington, Nebraska; her grandchildren: Aariah Drake, Ariyahna Drake, Haylee and Aaliyah Bonnie; brothers & sisters: Darrell (Della) Weems of Adel, Iowa, Myra (Jim) Luetje of Westside, Iowa, Connie (Gordon) Weems-Scott of Marietta, Georgia, and Curtis Weems of Stuart, Iowa. She is also survived by many other relatives.

Memorial services for Nancy will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 North 108th Street in Omaha, Nebraska.
