Neoma Kuhl

Funeral services for Neoma Annette Kuhl were held Sunday, January 4, 1998, at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. Pastor Daniel Vogel and Pastor Curt Dwyer officiated the service with Fern Jensen as organist. Interment was held in Manning Cemetery, Manning, Iowa, with Toby Spain, Chuck Spain, Mark Spain, Donald Franks, Todd Horbach, Greg Horbach, John Ehrichs, and Charles Johnson as casketbearers.

Neoma Annette, daughter of Herman and Ella (Brus) Nagel, was born April 7, 1905, on a farm in Iowa Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She attended country school near her home and then graduated from Manning High School in 1923. After graduation, Neoma worked at home on the farm.

On February 12, 1929, Neoma was united in marriage with Roy Kuhl at Denison. They farmed her parents' farm until 1961 when they moved into Manning. She helped her husband with his custodial job at the Manning Schools for ten years. They then moved to Denison where they were custodians at the REC building. After the death of her husband in 1974, Neoma continued to work for the REC until October of 1976 when she moved back to Manning. Neoma was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.

In 1994, Neoma moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to be nearer her daughter, Carol. She died there at the Quail Creek Nursing Center on Thursday, January 1, 1998, at the age of 92 years, 8 months, and 24 days.

Besides her husband and parents, Neoma was preceded in death by a son, in infancy, and a daughter, Janet Horbach.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol, and her husband, Ron Campbell, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
