Olivene Eckley

Olivene Eckley, age 93 and life-long resident of Manning, died Saturday, February 23, 2002, at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning. Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held later this spring.

Olivene, daughter of Josiah V. and Dora (Shingledecker) Hunter, was born May 11, 1908, near Audubon in Audubon County, Iowa. She attended country school near her home and graduated from Manning High School in 1925.

On May 28, 1928, Olivene was united in marriage with Daniel H. Eckley in Carroll. He preceded her in death February 14, 1965.

Preceding Olivene in death, in addition to her husband, were her parents, a grandson Thad Rohde, three sisters: Florence Finnerty, Gladys Wunder and Enid Hunter; and two brothers, Harold and Clarence Hunter.

Olivene is survived by a daughter Dorla and husband Kenneth Rohde of Bettendorf; a granddaughter Dixie Rohde of Manning; a grandson Drew Rohde and a great-granddaughter Rachel Rohde of Olathe, Kansas; nieces, nephews and friends.
