Oliver T. Himley, 78, of 11380 W. 84th Place, Arvada, Colorado died of complications from Parkinson's Disease Thursday at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheatridge, Colorado. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Grandview Lutheran Church in Des Moines of which he was a former member. Burial will be at Highland Gardens Cemetery.

Dr. Himley was born in Chippewa County, Minnesota and lived in Des Moines for 29 years prior to moving to Colorado. He was a retired Iowa Department of Education Administrator. Dr. Himley enjoyed his work immensely and most recently delighted in every day he spent with his granddaughter, Callie.

Survivors include his daughter, Colette Himley; and granddaughter Callie Morlock of Golden, Colorado.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation.

Side-note: Oliver's wife, Lorraine, taught 4th grade in Manning from 1963 to 1966. Oliver was the Grade School and Junior High Principal during this time frame at Manning Schools.
