Otto August George Borkowski Funeral Held Here
April 4, 1956

Funeral rites were at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church here for Otto A. Borkowski, Sr. who died at Clarinda Wednesday night after being ill for some time. The Rev. George B. Eschenbacher officiated. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery. Pallbearers were Herman Anthony, Henry Peters, Herman Behrens, Emil Dammann, Herman Dammann, and Herman Kienast.

Mr. Borkowski, a farmer, had also been in the threshing and corn shelling business.

Born near Chicago, IIIinois, September 15, 1874, he came to Pottawattamie County, Iowa, with his parents when he was one year old. After living there about four years the family moved to Audubon County and a short time later to Carroll County.

He located in Manning more than 30 years ago.

Mr. Borkowski had worked for two years in Wisconsin where he was married to Lena Haas July 2, 1907. His wife died about two years ago.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Herman (Esther) Sander, Omaha: three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Emil Borkowski, Wessington Springs, South Dakota; Henry Borkowski, Louisville, Minnesota; Mrs. Albert (Minnie) David, Manning; Gustave Borkowski, Audubon; Bert Borkowski, Louisville, Minnesota; Mrs. August (Annie) Juergens, Audubon; Mrs. Alma Moyer, Omaha; Mrs. Max (Lena) Juergens, Sibley; Leo Borkowski, Audubon; Paul Borkowski, Manning; Laura Borkowski, Omaha; and Albert Borkowski, Manning.


Otto Borkowski is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
