Patricia Elaine Axman, age 55 of Carroll, died early Sunday morning, July 17, 2016, at Mercy Hospice House in Johnston, Iowa, surrounded by her family, from complications resulting from her 13 year battle with MS.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Mass servers will be Brandon Baum-hover and Josh Tigges. Music for the funeral mass will be by Kate Cuddy and Jake Gute. Lector will be Tammy Greteman. Gift Bearers will be: Nancy Trapolino, Megan Hathcock, Jill Mastin and Jessie Nash. Eucharistic Minister will be Jennifer Nolting. Casket Bearers will be: Cody Willenborg, Austin Willenborg, Jeremy Puck, Danny Puck, Jacob Schreck, and Michael Schreck. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Tuesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 7 p.m.

The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church on Wednesday morning where visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m., and continue until the time of the funeral mass.

In lieu of flowers memorials may left at the funeral home or the church and be made to the Holy Spirit Parish Vacation Bible School and Children's Liturgy, and the Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation.

Born on June 19, 1961 at Carroll, Iowa, Patty was the daughter of Leo and Darlene (Haberl) Willenborg.

Patty graduated from Manning High School in 1979 and Buena Vista College in 1983.

On July 9, 1983, Patty was united in marriage to Terry Axman at Sacred Heart Church in Manning with Msgr. Walker and Fr. Schrad presiding. To this union three children were born: Joshua, Kirby, and Melea.

Patty worked various jobs with banking and NRCS. Patty was very active in Holy Spirit Church starting the Children's liturgy, vacation bible school, and was troop leader for boy scouts, secretary for Carroll Area Swim team and parent rep for summer swim. Patty loved shopping, biking, camping, and gardening. Patty loved watching and supporting her children in their sporting activities, and spending time with her faithful companion Oreo.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years Terry Axman of Carroll; her children Josh Axman and special friend Morgan Neary, Kirby Axman and Melea Axman, all of Carroll; her parents, Leo & Darlene Willenborg of Manning: her siblings: Dale (Dianne) Willenborg of Council Bluffs; Ron (Charlotte) Willenborg of Manilla; Linda (George) Wolf of River Forest, Illinois; Kathy (Ben) Puck of Manning; Steve (Barb) Willenborg of Manning; Lori (Keith) Schreck of Willey; Ken Willenborg of Manning; and Theresa Nash of Des Moines; her parents-in-law, Russell and Freda Axman of Dedham; her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Richard Axman of Lincoln, Pamela Schmitz of Omaha and Bill Axman of Carroll; as well as other extended relatives and many friends.

Patty was preceded in death by her grandparents Ben & Genevieve Haberl and Henry & Ida Willenborg; and her brother-in-law, David Schmitz.
