Pearl George

Pearl George, 92, of the Rolling Green Village in Nevada and formerly of Boone, died August 9, 2017, at the Rolling Green Village.

Following Pearl's wishes, she has been cremated. A Graveside service will be held in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone at a later date.

Pearl Levina Armstrong was born January 17, 1925, in Manilla, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Madge (Butler) Armstrong. She graduated from Manning High School in 1942. On April 24, 1946, Pearl was united in marriage to James "Dick" George in Jackson County Missouri. They raised their two children, Marcia and Jim, in Boone, Iowa.

Pearl worked alongside her husband, Dick, at Cardinal Cleaners in Boone until his death in 1966. Afterwards, she was employed by Iowa State University for 16 years as a coordinator of the Athletic Food Program. She retired in 1988. She had been a resident of Rolling Green Village since November of 2004. Pearl was an avid fan of Iowa State basketball and football. In addition, she enjoyed dancing, bowling, and cooking.

Pearl is survived by her daughter, Marcia (John) Tannehill of Ames; a son, Jim (Annie) George of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Mark) Pfeiffer, John (Alisa) Tannehill, Alissa (Todd) Ditmars, Melea (Steve) Hillard, Andrea (Daniel) Behn, Shane (Cheryl) Solheim, and Brandon (Krystal) George; seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dick; two brothers, Jim and Glen Armstrong; two sisters, Ida (Armstrong) Sims and Lavonne Armstrong.

In memory of Pearl, memorials may be directed to the family's charity of their choosing.
