Peter F. Hansen

Peter Frederick Hansen was born in Bredstedt Schleswig Holstein, Germany, on April 14, 1866, and died at his home in Manning, August 19, 1935. In 1884 he moved with his parents to Walnut, Iowa, moving in 1890 to Audubon County and lived there until 1927 when he and his family moved to Manning.

He was united in marriage on March 15, 1890, to Miss Margaret Sierks. To this union seven children were born. He is survived by his widow, daughters, Amelia, Mrs. Leon Hass; Hilda, Mrs. George Fischer; Lillian, Mrs. Alfred Hansen; Alma, Mrs. N.W. Miller; two sons, Otto and Hugo Hansen; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Anna Pruter passed away in 1921, and the following brothers and sisters, Carsten Hansen and Lucy Anderson of Walnut and Mrs. Oscar Duhman of Geneseo, Illinois.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Lutheran church, Rev. John M. Ansorge officiating. Louis Hansen, Albert David, Albert Rudnick, John Claussen, Henry Rostermundt, and William Nulle acted as pall bearers. Interment was made in the Manning City Cemetery.

Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nissen, Adair; Mr. and Mrs. George Duhmann, Geneseo, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Carsten Hoffman, Walnut; Wilma Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hansen, Atlantic, and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hogen, Omaha.

Peter F. Hansen Is Laid To Rest
Funeral services for Peter F. Hansen, for a number of years a well-known farmer and a prominent resident of this community, were held Thursday afternoon at Zion Lutheran Church at Manning with Rev. John M. Ansorge officiating.

The deceased had lived in Lincoln Township for many years where he was regarded as a progressive farmer. He was prominent in the Activities of the community in which he lived and played an important part in building up the land in that territory.

Several years ago he retired from the farm and made his residence in Manning, residing on East Street.

Peter Friedrick Hansen was born April 14, 1866, in Bredstedt, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith there.

In 1883 he came to America and settled at Walnut, Iowa. In the year 1890 he was united in marriage with Margaretha Dorothy Sierks of Lincoln Township. In that community they lived until 1927 when they retired from farm life and came to Manning.

Mr. Hansen had been ill to some extent for a number of years and had been subject to a number of operations. Some time ago his condition became worse and on Sunday evening, August 18 he became seriously ill and passed away the following evening, August 19th, 1935.

Mr. and Mrs. Hansen were the parents of seven children, a daughter passing away about fourteen years ago. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his departure, two sons, Otto Hansen of Manning and Hugo Hansen of Gray; four daughters, Mrs. Amalia Hass, Manning; Mrs. Alma Miller, Manning; Mrs. Lilly Hansen, Gray; and Mrs. Hilda Fischer, Manning; He also leaves a brother, Carsten Hansen of Walnut, and two sisters, Mrs. Lucie Andresen of Walnut, Mrs. Dora Drehmann of Geneseo, Illinois.

Interment was in the Manning Cemetery. Acting as pall bearers were Henry Rostermundt, Henry Nulle, John Claussen, Lou Hansen, Albert Rudnick, Albert David.

George Hansen of Walnut; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hansen of Atlantic; Mr. and Mrs. Andy Hogan of Omaha, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nissen of Casey; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Johannsen, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Johannsen, Mrs. Pauline Petersen of Walnut, Iowa.
