DEATH OF PETER HANSEN.
Surrounded by those who had been nearest and dearest to him in life, Mr. Peter Hansen passed away at his home in this city on Friday evening, February 15, 1901. For a number of years past Mr. Hansen had been afflicted with asthma and heart affection, and it was these complications, assisted by the grip that caused his death. He was compelled to take to his bed for the first time on Monday the 10th and from that time until death nothing was left undone that would add to his comfort. Peter Hansen was a kind husband and father. He was at all times and in all places congenial to and honest with his fellowmen. He had a host of friends here and where who much regret his departure.

The funeral was held Sunday at one o'clock p.m. from the home Rev. Martens officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery. Mr. Hansen was a member of Aspinwall Camp, M.W.A., and the members of this order accompanied by those of Barber Camp of this city, followed his remains to the grave, as did also many others.

The deceased held a $2,000 life policy in the Aspinwall Camp, and this will be paid to the widow.

Mr. Hansen was born in Schleswig, Germany, January 24, 1860. At the age of 21 years he came to America, settling in Clinton County, this state. In 1888 he came to Aspinwall, where, in October 1889, he was joined in marriage to Cecelia Behrens, and unto this union five children were born.

Mr. Hansen came to Manning about one year ago, since which time he has been engaged in the real estate business. Besides the immediate family, Mr. Hansen leaves one brother, Hans Hansen, who lives at Davenport. He was present at the funeral, and will remain here for some time.
