P.H. Jones' Services Sunday

Funeral services for Peter Henry Jones, Manning lawyer who died Wednesday, September 19, 1951, will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Ohde Funeral home in Manning. The Rev. Harlan Kruse of the Presbyterian Church will be in charge, and Masonic graveside rites will be conducted.

Peter was the son of Mathias and Christina (Petersen) Jones. He was married to Minna Loof in 1906.


Peter H. Jones, born August 17, 1878, in Iowa Township, Crawford County, Iowa, and passed away September 19, 1951, at the age of 73 years, one month, and two days.
He lived in Manning the greater part of his life. An 1893 graduate of the high school at Manning, he obtained his law degree at the University of Iowa in 1897.
After practicing law at Hubbard for several years he returned to Manning, where he resided continuously since then. He was active in Masonic work, being a Past master of Manual Lodge No. 450 and Past patron of Salona Chapter, OES No. 231.
He was secretary of the school board over 40 years. His death was caused by a concussion on September 19, 1951 following a fall during the previous night.
Services at Ohde Funeral Home, Sunday, September 23, 1951, conducted by Rev. Harlan Kruse.
Interment in Manning Cemetery.
Graveside services by Manual Lodge No. 450 conducted by Clifford Mason of Westside.
Pallbearers: Claus J. Clausen, Virgil R. Anderson, Nick C. Schrum, Detlef Hinz, L.L. Hockett, and Fred Petersen.

Brother Peter H. Jones was initiated April 19, 1915, Passed May 17, 1915, Raised June 11, 1915. Final examination August 23, 1915.
