PHILIP EHRENHARD IS GONE.
On last Wednesday evening every one was completely astonished when the word was given out that Philip Ehrenhard was dead. There were a few of course, who had been there through the day and evening, that knew he was a very sick man, but even they did not think the time was so near for him to die. No longer ago than Monday he was down to his place of business twice. Erysipelas was the cause of death. It was first noticed, Monday evening and the spread was so rapid that medical skill was unavailing and within forty-eight hours he passed away.

Phllip Ehrenhard was one of the first inhabitants of Manning, having worked for Col. D.W. Sutherland in his lumberyard nineteen years ago, then a single man. He did not stay in Manning long but went to Fremont, lowa, where he was married in 1883 to Miss Maggie Weil and settled down. In May 1900 he sold out his furniture store at Fremont and came to Manning and purchased the Charles Schmidt furniture stock and moved his family here, where he has since resided. Mr. Ehrenhard was a good, kind-hearted man and in his home was always pleasant and cheerful; on the street and in business relations was always jolly and had a kind word for everyone.

Philip Ehrenhard was born in Bavaria, Germany, May 5, 1855, and as stated above was married to Miss Maggie Weil in 1883. To this union three children were born, two boys and one girl, all of whom are living. He also leaves two brothers and two sisters, one brother who resides at Omaha was present at

Mrs. Ehrenhard's father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Weil and Walter Ehrenhard, youngest son of the deceased, arrived from Fremont Thursday morning.

Short services were held at the residence Thursday evening after which the remains were taken to the C. M. & St. P. depot escorted by the American and German I.O.O. F. lodges of which order Mr. Ehrenhard was a member. A large concourse of friends was at the depot to see the train depart carrying all that was mortal of Philip Ehrenhard to his last resting place.

The corpse was accompanied by Mrs. Ehrenhard; her two sons, Irvin and Walter; her daughter, Lora; Mr. Ehrenhard of Omaha, brother of deceased; Peter Ruble, a brother-in-law from near Gray; Mr. and Mrs. Weil, father and mother of Mrs. Ehrenhard. The remains will be interred in the Fremont Cemetery tomorrow.

The family has the deepest sympathy of this entire community in this, their saddest hour of sorrow.
