In Memory of Phyllis Bluml

Phyllis Bluml, 90, of Denison, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 9, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison with burial at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Denison.
Huebner Funeral Home in Denison is in charge of arrangements.
Friends may call the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, May 8.
A Legion of Mary rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday with a vigil prayer service at 5 p.m. at Huebner Funeral Home in Denison.

Phyllis Arlene Hoffman Bluml was born August 31, 1920, daughter of Lawrence and Clara (Zitzlsperger) Hoffman.

She was born in Glidden and attended St. Augustine’s Catholic School in Halbur through the eighth grade. She helped on the family farm until going to work in Omaha, Nebraska, at Offutt Air Force Base during WWII.

She married Leo Bluml on February 5, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning. Together they made their home in Denison.

For many years, she was employed by Cronk's Cafe.

She was an excellent cook and baker, specializing in homemade breads and pies. She was a very good seamstress and was actively involved in the quilting group at the Methodist Church. She made a quilt for every one of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and she also enjoyed embroidering. She liked to play cards and go dancing, especially to polka music. She was proud of her flowers she raised around her home. She was a member of the Crawford County Hospital Auxiliary, an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison and their Altar Society.

She is survived by two sons Robert and his wife Christina, and Richard; two daughters Rebecca and her husband Joseph, and Nancy and her husband Jim; four grandchildren Joseph, Beth, Anthony, and Holly; two great-grandchildren Nicklaus and Brynn; one brother William; one sister Marian; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leo in 1985; one sister Harriet; and two brothers Earl and Julius.
