Graveside service and Interment for Ramona Boeck was held Sunday, November 10, 2002 at 3:00 p. m. at the Nishnabotna Cemetery, Manilla, Iowa. Officiating was Pastor Daniel Vogel of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa.

Ramona Marie, daughter of Albert P. D. and Emma B. (Rudnick) Grau, was born February 14, 1922, on the family farm in Viola Township, Audubon County, Iowa. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith on March 26, 1922, and confirmed August 23, 1937. Ramona attended country school near Manning and graduated from Manilla High School with the class of 1941. She then graduated from Midwestern College in Denison and taught school.

Ramona was united in marriage to Alfred "Jack" Boeck at the Lutheran parsonage in Arcadia. One child was born to this union and was welcomed by four sisters and a brother from Jack's previous marriage. They lived in Manilla most of their marriage, except for a brief period when they lived in Manning. Ramona taught at various country schools and retired from Templeton in 1984, after 30 years of teaching. Jack died March 30, 1984, and Ramona remained in their home until she moved to Manning in the summer of 2000.

Throughout the years, Ramona was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla and participated with the Priscilla Guild and Weavers. She was currently a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Ramona was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed visiting, reading and animals, especially cats.

On Thursday, November 7, 2002, Ramona died at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, following a short stay at the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. She was 80 years, 8 months and 23 days of age.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother Lester Grau and a son-in-law Alfred "Barney" Bargenquast.

She is survived by a son Frank Boeck and wife Gloria of Manilla; five step children; Mary Bargenquast of Manilla; Raymond Boeck and wife Alice of Manilla; a daughter Josephine and husband Ray Lingle of Manilla; Helen and husband Edwin Bandow of Manilla; Judith and husband Don Schaben of Defiance; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two nephews Lester Grau Jr., and Alan Grau; a sister-in-law Beth Grau of El Paso, Texas; and other relatives and friends.

Ohde Funeral Home of Manilla was in charge of arrangements.
