RAYMOND HENRY GRIMM

Funeral services for Raymond Henry Grimm will be held Wednesday, December 6, 1989, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. Pastor Robert Riggert will officiate the service with Fern Jensen as organist. Interment will be held in Manning City Cemetery with Myron Bogatzke, Ken Jensen, Jeff Bauer, Wilbur Lamp, Harold Sporrer and Laverne Meier as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers Arlo Atwell, Lowell Nelson, Ronnie Hiatt, Don Stribe, Merle Graer, Richard Wooster, Eldis Weems and Bill Musfeldt.

Raymond, son of Henry and Florence (Stahl) Grimm, was born May 13, 1917, in Ewoldt Township, Carroll County, Iowa. January 27, 1918, Raymond was baptized into the Lutheran faith. He attended rural schools near his home and April 28, 1932, was confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Ray was united in marriage with Ila Jahn September 18, 1940, at Zion Lutheran Church. They farmed until 1976 when Ray retired and they moved into town. Ray was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Layman's League and he was an honorary member of the Hayes Township Schuetzen-Verein. During his retirement and in his spare time Ray enjoyed carpentry, fishing and playing cards.

About six months ago Ray's health began to fail and he was hospitalized several times before his death at the Manning General Hospital on Monday, December 4, 1989 at the age of 72 years, 6 months, and 21 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister in infancy.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Ila, of Manning; by the following children: Dean and his wife, Peggy, of Manning; Curtis and his wife, Nancy, of Manning; Bruce and his wife, Mary, of Johnston; Alan, of Manning; and Connie and her husband, Dan Brasel, of Dunlap; by five grandchildren: Jamie, Nicole, and Natalie Grimm and Clark and Lisa Brasel; by two foster grandchildren, Bill and Jeff; by three aunts: Annie Ewoldt, of Manilla; Minnie Jessen, of Lowmoor; and Hazel Stahl, of Manning; and by cousins, other relatives and friends.


Raymond Grimm is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
