Raymond J. Ehrichs, 81, died Tuesday, December 1, 1992, in Riverview Manor Nursing Home in Flandreau, South Dakota.

Mr. Ehrichs was born on August 8, 1911, in Manilla, Iowa. As a child, his family moved to a farm in Moody County north of Lone Tree. He began attending school in rural Moody County. In 1918, the family moved into Flandreau and he continued his education. He worked at various jobs before joining the Army. He served in the Army from March 1942 to January 21, 1946, during World War II. He returned to Flandreau after his discharge.

He married Bernice Jackson on January 24, 1952, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. They farmed north of Egan until September 1956, when they moved to a farm one mile east of Egan. They retired in 1976. In February 1991, he became a resident of Riverview Manor.

He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Flandreau American Legion Post 70.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice; three sons: Thomas Ehrichs of Egan, Warren Jackson of Pierre, and Gordon Jackson of Springfield, Illinois; one daughter, Mrs. Edmund (Joanne) Burke of Shelbyville, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one brother, Edward of Flandreau.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Flandreau, with burial in Hillside Cemetery in Egan.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Skroch Funeral Home in Flandreau.

Raymond J. Ehrichs, 81, Egan, died Tuesday, December 1 at Riverview
Manor. Funeral services were held Friday, December 4 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Pastors Lloyd Miller and Jamie Desai officiating.

Raymond Ehrichs was born at Manilla, Iowa, on August 8, 1911, to Henry and Anna (Lorenzen) Ehrichs. As a very small child, the family moved to a farm in Moody County north of Lone Tree. Ray started his education in a rural Moody County School and in 1918 the family moved into Flandreau where he completed his education. He worked at various jobs in Flandreau until he entered the U.S. Army during World War II in March 1942. After his discharge, he returned to Flandreau and on January 24, 1952, he married Bernice Jackson at Redwood Falls, Minnesota. They farmed north of Egan until September of 1956 when they moved to the farm one mile east of Egan. He farmed there until 1976 when he retired. They continued to make their home on the farm until February of 1991 when he became a resident of Riverview Manor. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Flandreau American Legion Post No. 70.

He is survived by his Wife, Bernice, Egan; three sons: Thomas Ehrichs, Egan; Warren Jackson, Pierre, South Dakota; Gordon Jackson, Springfield, Illinois; one daughter: Joanne, Mrs. Edmund Burke, Shelbyville, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Edward Ehrichs, Flandreau. He is preceded in death by one daughter, Leslie Bisson and his parents.

Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Egan.
