Renee L. Binder
Renee Linda, daughter of Robert Grimm and Joan Messenbrink, was born June 6, 1961, at Crawford County Hospital, Denison, Iowa. She started her elementary education in Manilla where her family lived. Because of her father's job, she attended several schools and then graduated from Royal High School in Royal, Iowa.

On August 22, 1981, Renee was united in marriage with Doug Bjorklund. To this union, two children were born. The family lived in Spencer.

In the early 1990s, Renee completed truck-driving school and began trucking for M.C. VanKampen out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. She traveled long distances all over the United States. During this time she met and married Brent Binder.

In the late 1990s she made Manning her home base and enjoyed being nearer her mother. In her spare time, Renee enjoyed riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle. She also enjoyed gardening and drawing. Renee enjoyed visiting with senior citizens and helping other people and making them happy.

Renee died as the result of a vehicle accident east of Manning on Sunday, May 18, 2003, at the age of 41 years, 11 months, and 12 days.

Preceding her in death are her grandparents: Francis Messenbrink, Helen and Ed Grimm, and Art and Lenore Hickey.

She is survived by her daughter Adrienne Bjorklund of Spencer; son Boone Bjorklund of Spencer; mother Joan and husband Jim Wittrock of Manning; father Tom Hickey and wife Georgia of Manilla; grandmother Vera Messenbrink of Manilla; three sisters: Rhonda and husband Lance Kruse of Royal; Renita Corbin of Sioux City and RaeJean Hickey of Scranton; one brother Rick Hickey and wife Jill of Royal; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
