Robert Eickelkamp of Whittemore, Iowa (formerly of Manilla) died Feb. 22, 1983. He had been in failing health for several months.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Feb. 25 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Lotta Creek, the Rev. Virgil Brack officiating. The Geilenfeld-Schaaf-McCullough Funeral Home of Whittemore was in charge of arrangements; burial was in the Manning Cemetery at Manning.

Pallbearers were Dale Opheim, James Opheim, James Cunningham, Steven Opheim, Bryan Traub and Brent Opheim.

Robert Eickelkamp was born in Clinton County, Iowa on Jan. 20, 1902, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Eickelkamp. He received his education in schools at Virgil, S.D., and worked most of his life at bridge construction in the Sioux City and Omaha areas.
His first wife, Ann (Guth) Eickelkamp died Sept. 11, 1967.

On July 15, 1969, he was married to Martha Opheim of Whittemore.

Mr. Eickelkamp is survived by his wife Martha, six step-children, 28 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, brothers Louie, Bill, Fred, and Frank Eickelkamp and one sister, Mrs. Louie (Clara) Ehrichs.

Relatives attending the service in Whittemore were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schramm; Rick and Scott of Denison and Mrs. Dorothy Kusel and Dave of Manning.


Robert Eickelkamp is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
