Robert "Bob" Dale, son of William and Edna (Brus) Lohrmann, was born May 30, 1934, near Manilla, Iowa, in Hayes Township. He grew up near Manilla and graduated from Manilla High School in 1952. Bob then farmed with his Uncle Ed.

In November of 1954, Robert was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as an Artillery Gun Crewman in Alaska until receiving his honorable discharge in October of 1956. On June 28, 1958, Bob and Dottie were united in marriage. Three children were born to this couple. Bob and Dottie farmed the Brus family Century farm on Highway 141 for 50 years. He enjoyed raising cattle, hogs and the country way of life.

Bob served as a Crawford County Supervisor for 14 years, helping legislate for many roads and bridges to be repaired and rebuilt around the county, and always rallying to keep the gravel roads maintained. He was active as a Shriner and in the American Legion in Manilla and enjoyed supporting his community and attending basketball games. He cherished the time spent with his family.

In 1990, Bob and Dottie retired from the farm and moved into Manilla where he helped Dottie run Grandma D's restaurant. Dottie passed away on July 19, 2007. In December of 2014, Bob became a resident of the Manilla Manor Nursing Home where he passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, due to complications of Parkinson's disease.
